On May 21, the Drug Administration Department of the State Drug Administration held a symposium to listen to the industry's opinions and suggestions on the construction of the drug traceability system. Industry associations such as China Chemical Pharmaceutical Industry Association, China Pharmaceutical Business Association, Beijing Pharmacy Public Welfare Foundation, and representatives of some medical institutions and pharmaceutical production and circulation enterprises attended the forum.
 
     In November 2018, the State Food and Drug Administration issued the "Guiding Opinions on the Construction of Drug Informationization Traceability System", which proposed the construction goal of "one thing, one yard, code code and chase", and clearly allowed multiple codes to coexist. Enterprises can choose and self-select. The retrospective system was established, pointing out that key products such as vaccines, narcotic drugs, psychotropic drugs, drug-producing chemicals, and blood products should take the lead in establishing a drug information traceability system. Participants said that they will further accelerate the construction of the traceability system in accordance with the standards for traceability system issued by the State Food and Drug Administration.
   
Participants unanimously agreed that it is of great significance to promote the comprehensive management of drug quality and safety through the construction of drug information and traceability system, to realize the sharing of traceability information, and to realize the traceability of the whole variety and the whole process. It is also the direction of the joint efforts of national regulatory agencies and the industry.
   
     Some pharmaceutical manufacturers further improve the extension function based on the existing drug traceability system. According to the traceability requirements of different countries and regions, the product traces are compatible with various code formats such as strip traceability code and GS1 two-dimensional trace code. The enthusiasm of medical institutions to participate in the construction of drug traceability systems is also high. The representative of the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army said that the construction of a drug traceability system for hospitals is of great significance for achieving refined operational management. Currently, the hospital is piloting the construction of a special drug traceability system.
    
      The main person in charge of the Drug Supervision Department of the State Food and Drug Administration pointed out that the construction of the drug traceability system is an important basic work to realize the informationization of drug supervision, and it is affirmed for the industry's exploration of the drug traceability system. It is hoped that industry associations will continue to lead enterprises to accelerate the construction of drug traceability system. Large enterprises should play a leading role in demonstration and set an example. In the future, on the basis of the existing informationization of enterprises, combined with the advancement of Internet technology, we will further promote the construction of the “Internet+” drug after the listing of the drug system, innovate the means of supervision, and better serve the safety of the people.
    
     It is understood that the framework for the construction of China's drug traceability system is steadily building. Up to now, the State Food and Drug Administration has issued two standards for the construction of drug traceability systems, and three other standards are being publicly solicited.
